Visitor Review:

Stayed here during the height of Spring Break frenzy in Tampa and didn’t regret it a bit. Even though the hotel was hosting several teams’ worth of college athletes (softball and golf, it seemed), the place was clean, comfortable and…QUIET.

There’s a very nice outdoor pool — but only limited chaise lounges, so you need to claim one early. The bar/restaurant is serviceable, but we only ate there once, since there are *many* other options nearby (Bennigans, Chili’s, etc.).

I was in town for a pre-employment house-hunting tour, and found the location to be pretty much close to everything…at least as far as the close-in neighborhoods I wanted to see.

We went over to St. Pete/beach communities one day, and it was only about a 1/2 hour trip on the freeway, which is maybe 20 miles away. There’s also a big shopping mall just up the street, if you’re into that.

The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful, if not terribly experienced. The lobby convenience store was just that — convenient — with long hours and reasonable prices (compared to most “captive shopper” locations).

The kicker was the “free” breakfast each morning, including omelets and eggs-to-order and Belgian waffles, plus a ton of other tasty/fresh options (fresh fruit, baked goods, etc.). The chef and his helpers were very friendly, chatting up the diners while they were waiting for their orders to cook.

There also is a complimentary cocktail hour — usually a BIG plus in my book — but we never took advantage of it (in four nights at the hotel) because we were too busy running around to everything that Tampa had to offer.

So, if you’d like Tampa-area accommodations that are close to area attractions, you won’t go wrong at the Embassy. And you’ll really get your money’s worth if you make it back in time for the free drinks!
