Visitor Review:

We were pleased to secure an excellent rate at the Embassy Suites/
North Shore Deerfield, especially considering typical Chicago-area hotel prices. Had I fully realized just how much time (not to mention fuel consumption/expense) the trip to the far north would add to my visit, however, I would have chosen otherwise.

We’re generally very pleased with the Embassy Suites setup, when traveling for business or pleasure: the two separated rooms provide a greater feeling of privacy and comfort, and this location seemed especially well-furnished (with the usual excellent and extremely comfortable bed, and two flat-screen televisions). Our suite was located on the ground floor, adjacent to the breakfast area, which is to be avoided: noisy children in the morning and raucous young adults on the weekend evenings were annoying at any hour (but especially when one was trying to sleep).

We were also surprised at the somewhat sloppy housekeeping: when we arrived, a half-empty bottle of wine was left in the refrigerator, and glasses and coffee cups were not cleaned during our stay. (The bathroom supplies, great quality as one might expect, were generously replenished, however.)

The place was filled with somewhat unruly children on the weekends, which left the pool option for Monday morning. We were warned against the whirlpool by someone who came to clean it (based on overuse by children over the weekend)–we were hesitant already, and our suspicions that it sorely needed the cleaning were therefore confirmed.

The breakfast was an excellent option, and all staff we encountered were helpful. We probably wouldn’t stay at this location again, but our positive view of Embassy Suites in general was untarnished by this experience.
