My family and I stayed there while I was on business. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from a shopping mall comprised of the large anchor stores of Sears, Nordstroms, and Macys. There’s an array of restaurants nearby. We were happy with the spacious suite. The only glitch was housekeeping was slow in cleaning the room and it was about 3 pm when they arrived. If you are a late riser for breakfast, there are long lines for food after 8 am.

Visitor Review:

My husband and I stayed for a night in April for a night on the town as we live north of downtown. Check in was a breeze, the receptionist was very nice. They have a screen with flight info in the lobby, which would be really nice for travelers. They also have someone there at a desk with city info if you were looking for things to do in San Diego.

We had a room on the 5th floor. It was considered Bayside, but it was facing South. We had a view of the Coronado Bridge, Seaport Village and some city view. The beds and pillows were nice and soft. The room was very quiet. We were never disturbed by neighbors, guests in the hall, or traffic noise. The front room has a pullout couch, chair, TV, and dining table.

The walk to the Gaslamp is a little ways, but definitely doable. We followed G street (on the northside of the hotel) and it took us about 15 minutes to get down to 5th Street. We stopped for dinner in the Gaslamp and then headed to 4th and B for an event. We went back to the Gaslamp for a couple of drinks and back to our hotel. So, lots of walking!

Breakfast the next morning was very plentiful. I really love when there is an omlete station included. There were also pancakes, potatoes, pastries, fruit, yogurt, etc. The coffee wasn’t the greatest, but there is a Starbucks connected to the SE corner of the hotel.

This was our second overall stay at this hotel and will definitely consider staying again in the future and recommend it to anyone coming to San Diego.

The place was great. Except when I ordered an angus burger at the counter and didn’t give a tip. It took a lot longer than my fiends fish did. Then the next day I had dieareah and through up just the meat from the burger. I’m 34 the last time I had food poisoning was when I was 20. Now I still feel the affects 3 days later.

Visitor Review:

Our family LOVES the desert this time of year, so overall we had a wonderful time.Regarding the Embassy Suites, it had some positives and some negatives.We usually stay at Marriott Shadow Ridge, but had an opportunity to stay at ES.

Positives: the rooms were newly refurbished with granite in the bath and vanity areas, the rooms were nicely appointed, beds comfortable.They were, however, very dark and the person above us was very loud and kept us awake.It was great to have a microwave and refridgerator.

The morning breakfast and evening reception were very enjoyable and we had a great time meeting other families.It was great not to leave the property and be able to grab a couple bananas and an apple for the kids later.

The staff was very nice and accomodating, and the pool was warm.The rates were also reasonable and they do not charge a parking or resort fee.

Why I would not return:
Number one is that people are allowed to smoke around the pool and on the patios where guests are having breakfast.Huge turn off…

Next, while there was only one dog that we saw there, it is ‘pet friendly’ and while some people with dogs are impeccable, the hotel cannot control who is and who is not.

Parts of the grounds are horribly run down; the gates from the parking area to the hotel and the stairways make it hard to believe this is an Embassy Suites.In all fairness, though, they are renovating and perhaps it will be much better when they are done (prepare for construction noise also).

It just wasn’t a Marriott, which for us always have a consistancy of quality and are smoke and pet free.

We stayed there as we had a charity event for our school and this gift certificate was part of an auction.My expectations were just too high.

My 2 sons and I were there for Spring Break. We had a very relaxing 3 days. We really enjoyed our room, especially the 2 bathrooms. The suite was huge and the beds were very comfortable. We stuffed ourselves at the breakfasts and the Manager’s reception was a nice snack. We didn’t eat at the restaurant because it seemed kind of pricey. The pool and spa were great. The pool was nice and warm (as was the weather) and the spa was very soothing. We would definitely recommend for families on vacation.

Visitor Review:

My husband had work out in San Jose so my 10 month old son and I tagged along. From the minute we arrived I was disappointed. It was a Saturday Night. About 8pm.
I can begin with my disappointments.
1. I asked for a crib and highchair to be in the room (we were arriving late and I wanted to be able to put my baby down for bed right away). I saw on their website they have these for guests. NOTHING! So we called. Were told its on the way up. We left to pick up some dinner, come back an hour later, STILL NOTHING. Called again, were told they are short staffed but someone is bringing it up. Another 30min. passes… I called… I was told they don’t have any crib or anything for us, sorry. I of course flipped out after flying for 7 hours.. holding the baby the whole time.. it was about 2am at this point for us (eastern time) so I was ANGRY! I had to hold my baby all night in the bed.
2. They charged for the internet per computer/ per room. So if my husband and I wanted to be on our laptops it was a $20. charge! Insane. We ordered it once for one day…. But was charged $20(10 each) EVERYDAY for it!
3. there were 2 Elevators out for most of our stay.
4. they gave us a room in Birthday Party Central! We were wedged in between 2 groups who were partying all night. They propped their doors open had people in and out / drinking/ being loud/ kids running everywhere. I was furious…. Seeing I was exhausted from the flight.. and having to hold my child all night.. and listen to the party going out in the hall.
5. when I finally got the bed for the baby.. it was a pack play not a “crib” like the website says… if I had known that I would have brought a pack n play sheet! Not a crib sheet that didn’t fit! UGH!! And no highchairs for the room. They said just for the restaurant. But the website does say highchairs!
6. There were 2 nasty stains on our carpet. Crusty and gross! I was angry to see it there when my child crawls all over the place.
7. Someone sketched an eagle on our wall too.
8. Cleaning service was so slow. Some days they were there at 8am. Others not until 3pm. It was irritating when I was trying to put my baby to sleep for a nap or trying to feed him lunch.. and I was booted out so they could clean.
9. the heating system was all screwed up. It was SO hot and muggy in our room the entire time. I hated it! I could never cool off the room. I opened the sliding door but had to keep the bedroom door shut so my child didn’t crawl over and fall off the balcony!
So only the bedroom I could air out.
10. The manager even told me.. it is Kid Central on the weekends. So there was nothing they could do about it. They rent out the pool and stuff for parties!
THE POSITIVE THINGS
1. When I complained we got a nights stay for free.
2. They fixed the internet charges… not sure why they charged us to begin with.
3. the breakfast was real good… I think I gained 20lbs. from it!
4. the manager’s happy hour was fantastic.. you could get what ever you wanted as much as you wanted.. and take it up to your room so you could relax.. and the bartender was THE NICEST guy. I never got his name.. but so nice.
5. the location was nice… right off of a busy street(not so nice).. but little strip malls and restaurants all around. I was able to take my son for a walk every day in the stroller & feel safe. The town hall was close by and their community Center and Library too.
6. The bed is more comfortable than mine at home.
7. Very close to San Francisco. We went up there many times. Only took about 30 min.

If I could give zero I would! Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
The rooms were an okay size but had a horrible droning noise in them. Food at the hotel restaurant included reheated frozen scallops and uncooked cauliflower. We were unable to eat it. Absolutely vile.
Sheets appeared dirty.
Disappointing breakfast.
Terrible stay.

Visitor Review:

We stayed here on the way home from a trip and found it clean, comfortable and quiet. The bed was fantastic. What is not to like about a free happy hour and free hot breakfast. Will stay again when we go up for the flower festival.

stayed here as part of honeymoon.
this hotel is very clean, the rooms are very spacious with a seperate lounge and bedroom.
The hotel has a main pool area, and then it has 4 little pools around the main building as well with whirlpools which was lovely to relax in and soak up the sun.
the complimentary breakfast each morning is really super, you can have an omelette made for you, plus there are other things to eat as well, and also there is a nightly managers reception with free drinks and snacks.

La Quinta is a good 40 mins drive from Palm Springs which was a bit further away than we realised however this didnt spoil things for us.

there is also a supermarket near the hotel where you can stock up as there is a fridge in your suite which is very handy!

all in all, a very good experience and i would definatley stay here and at other embasssy suites again.
